Spotlight On: Ashlee Palsrok-Alex and Andy Boxley of Back Alley Bowl and Grill
Spotlight On: Back Alley Bowl and Grill
As part of our new series, we are interviewing people of interest in the area who are having a positive impact on our community.
This time, we reached out to Ashlee Palsrok-Alex and Andy Boxley, co-owners of The Back Alley Bowl and Grill in Bishop!
What inspired you to take over the bowling alley from the previous owners?
It’s a Bishop staple and we saw an opportunity to continue to grow that. In particular, we saw an opportunity to support our youth and offer a family friendly environment.
How many lanes do you have, and what types of bowling do you offer (eg traditional, cosmic, league)?
We have 10 lanes and offer league bowling five times a week, cosmic bowling, and we are even exploring a kids league (bowling classes). Something really cool about this bowling alley is that it still uses the old mechanical style pinsetter, which are the from 1975 when it first opened!
Can you tell us about the food and beverage options you have?
We offer classic American food. Definitely items you’d expect at a bowling alley like corn dogs, nachos, and burgers (shout out to the Meat House for providing us awesome fresh burgers, even on Saturdays!). We also have a really great selection of steaks, lamb chops, and trimmed pork chops and seafood. We’re really getting into offering special entrées and possibly an expanded soup and salad menu in the future! We have a full bar as well.
You mentioned youth leagues above. Do you also have birthday party packages?
We do currently offer birthday party packages and options and we are working out the logistics of a youth league or some kind of instructional options for kids so we can get the younger generations into bowling!
What are some of the specials you have for food and drinks?
We run specials daily, and different ones for lunch and dinner. Recently, we have had some great seafood specials including sea bass and halibut and a great 22oz bone-in ribeye steak! We also have NFL Sunday Ticket and offer brunch on Sundays when the games start at 10 am. We do drink specials regularly and for October our bar has a great raspberry lemon drop and a part of the proceeds go to Eastern Sierra Cancer Alliance!
Thank you so much to Ashlee and Andy for answering our questions. You can find The Back Alley Bowl and Grill at 649 N Main St, Bishop, CA 93514.
