Rotary Club of Bishop Sponsors Sold-out Fundraiser Screening of “Annapurna: Dreams and Nightmares”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Rotary Club of Bishop sponsored a sold-out screening of “Annapurna: Dreams and Nightmares” at the Bishop Twin Theater, directed by Don Bowie. Bowie, a former resident of Bishop and member of Inyo County Search and Rescue, is a professional high-altitude climber who’s spent the last three decades of his life climbing and summiting the world’s most challenging and highest peaks.
Mount Annapurna in Nepal is widely acknowledged as one of the most dangerous mountains in the world for climbers. Filmed over 13 years, spanning 6 relentless expeditions on 5 different climbing routes, ‘Annapurna’ takes audiences on an unprecedented voyage into the life and mind of the high-altitude climber. Making his accomplishment even more impressive, Bowie climbs without supplemental oxygen.
All proceeds from the night were donated to Inyo County Search and Rescue. Noam Shendar, president of the Rotary Club of Bishop, would like to thank Don Bowie, Bishop Twin Theater, Mountain Rambler Brewery, graphic designer Erika Vanderveer, and Rotary Club member Tanya Zaleschuk for coordinating the event.
