Precautionary Sweep of Mammoth School Campuses (Updated)
Precautionary Sweep of School Campuses
Good afternoon,
I wanted to inform you about a recent safety precaution that was taken in collaboration with the Mammoth Lakes Police Department (MLPD). MLPD received a call from the National Veteran’s Hotline regarding an anonymous, random message that mentioned Mammoth High School. While the message did not indicate a credible threat, MLPD conducted a thorough sweep of the bathrooms at Mammoth High School. As a further precautionary measure and an abundance of caution, they extended their sweep to Mammoth Middle School and Mammoth Elementary School.
We are pleased to report that no threats were found, and there is no reason for alarm. However, we will always prioritize the safety of our students and staff by erring on the side of caution in such situations.
Sincerely, Superintendent Rinaldi
UPDATE:
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department has confirmed that the threat originated overseas and posed no credible danger to our schools. Nevertheless, we will always prioritize safety and remain cautious to ensure the well-being of our students and staff.
