Mammoth Lakes Summer Road / MUP Maintenance Project Update (7/17)
Multi-Use Path (MUP) Reconstruction Project
Beginning on Thursday, July 18, the Contractor will begin pulverizing the multi-use paths (MUPs) along Old Mammoth Road starting on the section between Aspen Village and Minaret Road. While the MUPs are under construction, there will be a detour along Old Mammoth Road. On Friday, July 19 and depending on progress, the Contractor plans to pulverize the MUPs within and near the Mammoth Creek Park Playground. After the asphalt has been pulverized the material will be compacted and the MUPs reopened. Please be cautious while using the recently pulverized MUP’s as the surface will be soft.
Please be aware that while this work is being done, the playground will be closed for safety. The temporary closure is expected to only take a few hours. Please respect the closure signs and directions from Town staff and stay off the playground equipment. The Mammoth RecZone will operate as per schedule on Friday, July 19 from 12:30-8:00pm.
Re-paving of the multi-use paths is expected to begin on Monday, July 29 and be completed by Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Road Rehabilitation Project
Monterey Pine Road and Majestic Pines Drive are scheduled to be paved on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23. Crews will continue to work on the roads for the remainder of the week, that will include the lowering of utilities along Mono Street and Dorrance Drive. Beginning on Tuesday, July 30, crews will pulverize and remove material along Mono Street and Dorrance Drive for the remainder of the week.
Motorists can expect delays and/or detours as this work continues through August. Please review the project map for additional information and roads/MUPS impacted by this work.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we work on these critical road and MUP improvements.
