unnamedmammothice

This will ensure that our community of ice skaters, figure skaters and curlers, and our many winter visitors looking to skate outdoors under lights, along with our expanding local youth/adult hockey programs will be able to enjoy professionally maintained and refrigerated outdoor ice this winter. Please visit www.Mammothicerink.com to review the updated winter schedule, rates and session times.

NEW Lakes Basin Connector Trails Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – October 5

unnamedlakesbasin

The Mammoth Lakes Trail System (MLTS) and the Inyo National Forest are pleased to announce the official opening of several new trails in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. These trails were a result of a community engagement effort as part of the Lakes Basin Special Study. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their official opening is scheduled on Wednesday October 5 at 3:00pm at the junction of Around Lake Mary Road and Lake George Road (near the bike rack). New trails include: Mamie Woods (between the Lakes Basin Path and Lake George Path), Horseshoe Woods (between Horseshoe Lake and Lake Mamie) and Dog Boulder Trail (leads to Dog Boulder where it intersects with the newly rerouted Horseshoe Lake Loop). Contact Joel Rathje via email or follow the trail crew on Facebook and Instagram for additional information.

Fire Restrictions in The Eastern Sierra

unnamedfirerestrict

Effective Monday, June 6, 2022 the Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office implemented fire restrictions on all Federal lands under their jurisdiction. Seasonal fire restrictions for the Eastern Sierra Region are being implemented in close coordination with other state and local county agencies. The following restrictions will be in place on both agency lands:

  • No Campfires, briquette/charcoal barbeques, or stove fires are allowed outside of agency-provided fire rings or barbeques at designated developed recreation sites. Dispersed campfires such as rock rings, will no longer be allowed.
  • No Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in an area at least three feet in diameter barren of all flammable materials.
  • No welding or operating acetylene or other torch with open flame.
  • No motorized vehicles or tools powered by internal combustion engines off designated roads or trails (such as chainsaws or lawn mowers).

Please Leash Your Dog!

unnamed14

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is issuing citations to all owners with dogs off-leash at Shady Rest Park and throughout Town after issuing only warnings for the last 2 years. It is unlawful for any dog owner to allow their dog to run at large within the Town of Mammoth Lakes Municipal Boundary. The Eastern Sierra offers an incredible outdoor playground for dog owners to play and walk with your dog(s) off-leash. The Town is moving forward with plans for a dog park with construction expected to commence in the fall of 2023. Thank you for your commitment in keeping Mammoth Lakes safe and beautiful for all to enjoy! Learn more about Dog Resources, Licensing, Education and Enforcement.

The lights are back on at the Edison Theatre!

On July 6, Town Council approved an agreement with the Mammoth Lakes Foundation for the Parks and Recreation Department to operate the Edison Theatre. The Town is currently updating the theatre space with a new Epson 1080p LED Projector and 78” x 139” motorized projector screen. In addition, the stage will see a new coat  of paint and the parking lot has been repaired, received a new layer of asphalt and striped in advance of the many returning theatre guests. Please contact the Park and Recreation Department at (760) 965-3690 to learn more or to reserve the theatre for your private gathering or event.
