Town Council Meeting Action Items – April 19, 2023

  • Town Council held a final Public Hearing to modify by resolution the existing Mammoth Lakes Tourism Business Improvement District (MLTBID) Management District Plan (MDP) and declared results of majority protest proceedings. The modification changes the remittance requirements of the 1.5% assessment levied providing for the remittance of 1.38% to the Town and the retention of 0.12% to pay required sales tax on the assessment.
  • Town Council received an update from Town staff regarding the response and management of the declared local extreme weather emergency and approved findings to continue the authorized emergency road repair work as provided for in Resolution No. 23-24.
  • Review the meeting agenda online.

Spring Snowmelt Preparation 

  • The sierra snowpack remains at historic levels, due to relatively cool temperatures through mid-April. According to the National Weather Service, it is still 300-400% of normal for mid-April. Gradual melting has begun at low to mid elevations the last couple weeks.
  • The short-range forecast (next 1-2 week) is for warmer temperatures with no significant precipitation events through the end of April. There is, however, a high risk of at least minor to moderate flooding from May through July for Eastern Sierra creeks and streams – DO NOT CROSS SNOW COVERED CREEKS AND STREAMS.
  • Sandbags are available for property use from the Cinder Shed at the Town Yard – 299 Commerce Drive.

Parks and Recreation Update

  • Summer camp and swim lesson registration is underway with availability in several camps – please contact the Parks and Recreation team at (760) 965-3690 for assistance. Check out the camp flyers on the website for more detailed itineraries and register online.
  • Sierra Classic Theatre presents “Good People” playing at the Edison Theatre from April 27 – May 30.  Visit the website for tickets and more information.

Advanced Airlines Extends Service to Mammoth Lakes 

  • This year’s historic snowfall has allowed Advanced Airlines to extend its season through the end of April.
  • You now have TWO MORE WEEKENDS to utilize the service. Flights to Mammoth Lakes from Hawthorne and Carlsbad are now available on April 21, 23, 28 and 30.

Mono County Community Workshops for the Eastern Sierra Regional CEDS

  • Join us on Tuesday, April 25 from 9-11am in Suite Z (Council Chambers) above Starbucks to help develop a regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Eastern Sierra Region.
