Mammoth Huskies Boys Basketball Teams Win Against Boron, Lose to California City

Mammoth High School Boys Basketball Team split a pair of games over the last week and had a game cancelled by Lone Pine that will not be rescheduled.

Last Friday 1/26 Mammoth Varsity Boys had a home, High Desert League, game vs Boron which Mammoth won by a score of 51 -21. The Huskies jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and never looked back. Mammoth was lead by Juniors Tyler Jones with 15 points, 14 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 2 Steals and 2 Blocks, Junior Forest Daniels was hot from outside dropping in 15 points, 3 Rebounds and 2 assists and Junior Matt Toomey with 4 points, 14 Rebounds, 2 Assists and 2 Blocks. Senior Sam Boyer dropped in 7 points, Matt Petroni added 6 points and Nevin Vanderhurst and Bryce Baldwin each had 2 points apiece to round out the scoring for the Huskies against Boron.

Mammoth JV Boys beat Boron 26 – 19 and were led by Eli Ericson with 10 points, Tommy Lackey with 4 points, Brandon Ronci with 4 points, DJ Gray, Martin Walker, JC Partida and Ricky Lucero each dropped in 2 points for a great JV win!!

On Monday 1/30 Mammoth was scheduled to host Lone Pine but Lone Pine cancelled the game which unfortunately will not be rescheduled.

On Tuesday 1/31 Mammoth Varsity Boys had a close game vs High Desert League foe, California City and came up just short in a highly contested game 66 – 62. Mammoth was lead by Juniors Tyler Jones with 19 points, 11 Rebounds, 4 Steals, Junior Matt Toomey added 15 points, 16 Rebounds, 2 Steals, Junior Matt Petroni 12 Points, 9 Rebounds, Senior Sam Boyer added 9 Points, 5 Rebounds for the Huskies.

Mammoth JV Boys lost a good game to California City JV 29 – 49 and were lead by Micah Ericson with 10 points, DJ Gray 6 points, Tommy Lackey 5 points, Tanner Knott 4 points and Eli Ericosn rounded out the JV Boys scoring with 2 points.

Mammoth plays host to Desert (Edwards AFB) in Mammoth on Friday 2/3 – JV Boys @ 3:30pm, Varsity Girls @ 5pm and Varsity Boys @ 6:30pm.

Mammoth Basketball’s last regular season game is scheduled for Thursday 2/9 in Mammoth vs High Desert League leader Rosamond. This will also be Mammoth’s senior night so come on out and help us support the team and our seniors!! Game times are 3:30pm JV Boys, 5pm Varsity Girls and 6:30pm for Varsity Boys action.
