Lone Pine’s Forum Theater Reopens to the Public

audience rtFor Immediate Release:

The Forum Theater in Lone Pine opened its doors to the public to a full house this President’s Day for the first time since it closed in 2008.

Owner Joseph Bork handed over the reins to Goodent, a local non-profit, in 2019 to offer the Forum Theater as a community space, but COVID restrictions limited the programming to virtual events.

While closed to the public, Goodent kept busy restoring the Forum to its former glory, and recently found a theater manager to run the space by the name ofHP poet rt Martha Jo Walton who lives in Keeler. Martha Jo has had previous theater experience and is a perfect fit for the Forum.

The generosity of Joseph Bork and a 2022 Inyo County Community grant will enable the Forum to offer a reduced price for space rental and performances – any donations and ticket sales funds will be used to further the programming, equipment and operating costs.

Victor Victor and KatyMartha decided to host an open mic night for President’s Day. It was an overwhelming success, a full house with local performers ranging from age 4, high school and the mid seventies.  Members of the audience joined in on stage with harmonicas and drums. People were dancing and singing along  – not bad for a Monday night! The Forum will make this a monthly event maybe stepping up to 2 x a month depending on demand.
