Well, it had been over a month since the Lone Pine Boys Varsity Basketball team had taken the floor for a game but there was no rust. Right from the opening tip Lone Pine was determined to make a statement to the High-Lo League that they are still the team to beat. Lone Pine’s transition game got the scoring started with a steal and layup. Coach Kemp commented that the aggressiveness that the Eagles play with is so much fun to watch. “The games are basically an extension of what we do in practice. The boys love to play fast and get after it, they challenge each other in practice, so when it comes gametime everything is just natural.” Alfonso and Fransisco Castro lead the team with 6 steals apiece which turned into layups on the other end. Christian Duran led the Eagles with 22 points. Coach Kemp stated, “this was Christian’s best game, not only did he score but he was rebounding and making great passes.” Captians Alfonso Castro and Dev Bhakta filled the stat sheet as well. Alfonso had 14 points, 10 assists, 6 steals and 4 rebounds, Dev Bhakta added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals. It was a great all-around game. The score really doesn’t reflect how well we played, we were up 30 most of the game and we were able to get all 17 kids quality playing time, 9 kids scored. The final score was 66-56.

Lone Pine plays Tonopah this Saturday at home. The JV Boys start the action at 10:30.

Alfonso Castro: 14 Points 10 Assists 6 Steals

Thanks,
Scott Kemp
