Board of Supervisors Selects New Assistant CAO

The Inyo County Board of Supervisors and County Administrative Officer Nate Greenberg are pleased to announce  that Denelle Carrington has been selected as the new Inyo County Assistant County Administrative Officer (ACAO).

This announcement comes after eight months and three nationally-focused competitive processes. The effort  culminated last week after the evaluation of dozens of applicants via formal and informal interviews with Administrative  personnel and department heads.

Carrington has worked for Inyo County since 2000, starting as an Office Technician with Health & Human Services  and rising to the position of HHS Fiscal Director after a few short years. In 2014, she transitioned into Administration  where she served as the Senior Budget Analyst for nine years – serving as a valued and integral part of the Budget  Team responsible for compiling the County’s annual spending plan – before being promoted last year to the Assistant  Director of Budget and General Services.

“During her tenure, Denelle has become an invaluable asset to the organization and developed an unprecedented  level of knowledge which spans every department in the organization, in addition to significant community-facing  programs and services,” Greenberg said. “Her work ethic and dedication to the County and its taxpayers are as  impressive as they are appreciated.”

Carrington’s appointment to the office of ACAO will be made official on August 20 when her contract comes before  the Board of Supervisors for approval. In the meantime, Carrington is hard at work carrying out the responsibilities of  her current position – which includes the significant responsibility of developing and publishing the Fiscal Year 2024- 2025 budget over the coming weeks.

“I’m looking forward to my new role and continuing to work with Nate and the rest of the Admin team, albeit in a  different capacity,” Carrington said. “I’m especially thrilled to be able to take on even more responsibility that will  include helping guide our awesome County workforce to even greater success for the benefit of our taxpayers.”

Following Carrington’s appointment to ACAO, the County will commence a wide-reaching recruitment to backfill her  current critical role as part of the Administrative and Budget Team.
