In Loving Memory of Jason Moxley

jason moxleyJason Moxley, a fourth-generation native of Bishop, California, was born on March 9, 1967. He was above all else, an incredible father and husband. He touched the lives of many with his warm heart, genuine smile, infectious witty humor and remarkable spirit. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, he peacefully passed away at his home in Crowley Lake, California on October 30, 2023, with his wife, Colleen Moxley, by his side. He leaves a legacy of love and laughter behind.

Jason was the beloved son of Nancy and Phil Moxley, who raised him with love and care. His adoring wife, Colleen Moxley, stood by his side with unwavering love and support throughout their marriage, and his battle with cancer. Their bond was a testament to the power of love in the face of adversity. Together, they were the proud parents of two children, 18-year-old Kate Cameron Moxley and 13-year-old Kyle Bennett Moxley. Jason’s dedication to his family was unwavering, and his love for them knew no bounds.

Jason is survived by his wife Colleen and son Kyle of Crowley Lake and his daughter Cameron of Honolulu, Hawaii, his father Phil Moxley of Bishop, his sister and brother-in-law Erin and Edwin Vargas of Bishop, his brother-in-law John Brymer and his wife Tracy of Milwaukee, his sister-in-law Sarah Burke and her husband Michael of San Francisco, his uncles and aunts: Daris Moxley of Bishop, Jay and Becki Eaton of Springville, Neil and Gloria Houghton of San Francisco, Dick and Paula Weller of Bishop and (10) cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Anne Moxley, Grandparents: Bob and Dorothy Moxley and Ed and Lee Houghton, uncles and aunts: Jim and Leona Moxley and Dick Moxley.

He attended school in Bishop from Kindergarten through 12th grade and then moved to the Los Angeles area and worked in construction. He and Colleen met in Los Angeles; they were married on July 19,2003 just after moving back to the Eastern Sierra. On July 7, 2005 their daughter Cameron was born and on April 27, 2010 they welcomed their son Kyle. Jason worked over 20 years in carpentry, showcasing his skill building custom homes, some for friends in Mexico and locally in the Eastern Sierra. In addition to his carpentry work, Jason served as the maintenance manager at Mammoth Mountain Inn, ensuring the safety and functionality of the much-loved resort. Most recently, he was the manager of the maintenance department at Northern Inyo Hospital. His commitment to his profession was evident in the care and attention he brought to his work.

A lover of the beach, the thrill of the water, and the beauty of the mountains, Jason was an avid wake surfer on Crowley Lake, a beach volleyball player at Venice Beach, and had a love for skiing at Mammoth Mountain. He found joy and adventure in these outdoor pursuits, reflecting his adventurous spirit. Jason’s memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the cherished moments spent with family and friends and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
