In Memoriam: George F. Hoffman
George F Hoffman Feb. 2, 1946—Aug. 8, 2023
George was born Feb. 2, 1946 in Waynesboro, PA. He graduated from Waynesboro High School and attended Penn State before entering the military. George entered the Army, and was stationed in Germany from 1967–1969. Upon discharge from the Army as a 2LT, he moved to California and started his employment with the Southern California Edison Co. He worked in the Customer Service Dept. and Steam Generation. In 1981 he married Diane Anderson and they moved to Bishop Hydro at Plant 4. He worked there until he took an early retirement package in 1997.
George loved the outdoors. He loved fishing (catch and release!), hiking, camping, skiing, golf, cooking and working in his vegetable garden. He was an avid Yankee fan. After retirement he and his wife Diane traveled the U.S. in an RV. He had a love for music and in his younger years he was a drummer in a band.
He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Emma Hoffman of Zullinger, PA.
He is survived by wife of 42 years, Diane Anderson Hoffman, brother Charles Hoffman, his wife Ellen of Alexandria, VA; brother-in-law Kenneth Anderson, his wife Kathy of Syracuse, UT; 13 nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Blessed with a newly discovered son, Darrin Mishler and his wife Sarah of N Lima, Ohio, George now has 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
George was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia in 2007 and passed away at home on Sept. 8 from complications of that disease.
