High Sierra Energy Foundation and Power Saver Rewards Celebrate Years of  Partnership

Mammoth Lakes | Oct 22, 2025: The High Sierra Energy Foundation (HSEF) is celebrating a  successful partnership with Energy Upgrade California in promoting the Power Saver  Rewards (PSR) program to Eastern Sierra communities. A partner with Energy Upgrade  California for over a decade, HSEF previously helped deliver the Flex Your Power program  that preceded Power Saver Rewards. The organization has been a PSR partner since 2023.

Currently, the Power Saver Rewards program is set to conclude on October 31, 2025. While  the future of the program beyond this date has not been finalized, everyone is encouraged to enroll and participate while it is still available. Participation allows for the opportunity to  earn bill credits during called Flex Alerts this season, and it also helps demonstrate support  for the program’s continuation.

Programs like Power Saver Rewards evolved from a need to manage strain on California’s  power grid. Between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., many people get home from  work and perform household tasks. This spike in demand for electricity jeopardizes grid  stability, especially on extremely hot days when everyone turns on their air conditioning  units in addition to the use of other major household appliances used for cooking and  cleaning. To stabilize the power grid, programs emerged to incentivize the voluntary  reduction of energy use during a Flex Alert between the 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. hours.

According to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), which manages  operations of the state’s bulk electric power system and transmission lines, over 75% of  California’s electricity is now generated by renewable sources—the majority of which is  solar power. As battery storage technology develops, the ability to charge batteries with  solar power during the day and then provide supply after the sun sets will continue to move  California toward its clean energy goals.

There is no cost to join Power Saver Rewards, and all Southern California Edison customers  in Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, and surrounding communities are eligible to participate. Visit  PowerSaverRewards.org to enroll or reach out to HSEF to learn more.
