Forest Service Pile burning in the Lakes Basin
Forest Service Fire crews will be burning up to 46 acres in the Mammoth Lakes Basin today. These piles are from a hazardous fuel reduction project. Crews plan to continue pile burning in the Lakes Basin for the next few weeks. Smoke will be visible from Mammoth Mountain, the Community of Mammoth Lakes, and possibly Highways 203 and 395. Weather and air quality conditions will be monitored throughout the project.
