Fire in Big Pine Quickly Contained
A vegetation fire was reported at 214 North School at 5:20 pm on Sunday, June 16. Luckily, the assistant fire chief was located a quarter mile away at the time and saw it happening. The response was rapid, but the fire resulted in the destruction of two and a half outbuildings, with the storage shed on the east side completely destroyed.
The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature. The response included support from Cal Fire, the Forest Service, and the Sheriff’s Department. Emergency personnel remained on the scene for a duration of 3 hours.
