Central CA Animal Disaster Team Volunteer Recruitment and Team Training

The Central California Animal Disaster Team (CCADT) is hosting a “Volunteer Orientation and Team Training” event on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event will be held at the Kerr McGee Community Center, 100 W California Avenue, Ridgecrest, CA, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend the training.
Volunteers are always needed to assist with animal evacuation and emergency sheltering, and this is the first time that CCADT has offered training in the Ridgecrest area. Anyone interested in becoming a CCADT volunteer and/or attending the May 2nd training may register by April 28th by visiting the CCADT website: https://ccadt.org.
Wildfires, flooding, and severe weather have become more prevalent throughout California. In addition to numerous wildfire evacuations, CCADT volunteers from Kern County have responded to Lake Isabella, Porterville, Delano, and McFarland to operate small animal shelters in response to life threatening flooding. Many animals were evacuated and provided with a safe haven until evacuation orders were lifted and pet owners were able to return home.
“During the last 10 years, CCADT has responded to 42 wildfires and has helped save thousands of animals, primarily during wildfires season.
