ESN Epic Eats Poll for Best Steak: The Results are In! (No, Really)

There’s been some questions about the results in the ESN Epic Eats poll for best steak in Bishop. Let’s clear it up!
The poll officially ended at midnight March 31. It was a nail-biter right to the end, but when the poll ended, Back Alley Bowl and Grill was the winner.

However, the poll was still accessible, and more votes came in after midnight. Because those votes were made after the poll ended, they unfortunately don’t count towards the results. But due to a system update glitch, they were still visible on our site this morning until the poll was manually closed and updated to reflect the correct and official midnight results.
We apologize for the confusion this caused. Our stance on these polls is hands-off. We don’t influence the numbers, and we don’t even vote in them ourselves. That won’t change. But we didn’t anticipate extra votes being cast after the poll ended or system issues displaying inaccurate results. Going forward, we’re tightening things up in our system to prevent problems like this.
We hope that clarifies things! And we’d be happy to get feedback on what everyone would like to see in future polls. These polls are meant to be a fun way for the community to show and share its appreciation for our amazing local businesses. Let’s keep on doing that.
The Bishop poll was a tight and hotly contested race, and a lot of people had a lot to say. To acknowledge what a wild ride it was and to celebrate the top three best steaks in Bishop — Back Alley, Whiskey Creek, and Aaron Schat’s Roadhouse — we’ll be offering each restaurant a feature to show everyone exactly why their steaks are top shelf.
Congrats to Bishop winner Back Alley Bowl and Grill and to Mammoth and Lone Pine winners The Restaurant at Convict Lake and Seasons, a special shout-out to all the restaurants our great community voted for, and thank you to the community for participating. You all love your steak!
New month, new poll: the April Epic Eats Poll is… Best Coffee Shop! Where’s your favorite caffeine fix? Vote now!
