Emergency Repairs to Begin Next Week on June Lake Loop

JUNE LAKE — Caltrans will close a section of State Route 158 S (South June Lake Loop) starting January 2, 2024, for emergency pavement repairs. The highway will be closed between North Shore Drive and just east of the town of June Lake, within the traditional avalanche closure area.

An emergency work order was issued to Lee Vining-based Conspec Inc. to repair the highway. The repairs are necessary due to cracks in the pavement that could expand with the cold winter weather and weaken the stability of the narrow road.

The South June Lake Loop Emergency Repair Project is scheduled for two weeks. Work schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, traffic incidents, and/or construction-related issues. North Shore Drive will be available as a detour for those looking to reach the town of June Lake and nearby recreation areas.

For those with sensory disabilities requiring alternate formats (i.e. Braille, large print, sign language interpreter, etc.) and those needing information in a language other than English, please contact Bob Gossman at (760) 881-7145 or TTY 711.
