Eastern Sierra Election Preliminary Results
Eastern Sierra Election Preliminary Results
The 2024 election cycle may go down in history as one of the weirdest, most contentious campaigns on record, at least on the national level. Thankfully, the Inyo and Mono County experience on November 5 did not follow suit.
These results are technically still tentative. Mail-in ballots have yet to be counted. In the wide-spread terrain of Inyo and Mono Counties, those ballots could impact the outcome.
First, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council: This is an easy one. Two seats open, two candidates. Incumbent Bill Sauser garnered 1,491 votes, 49% of the total; Brent Truax, 1,568 votes, 51%.
Bishop voters look to return their two incumbent candidates to the City Council, Karen Kong (25.25%, 552 votes) and Jose Garcia (24.02%, 525 votes) and add Dennis Freundt (22.32%, 488 votes).
Measure R, a $46.3 million bond for infrastructure repairs to Bishop Schools, and Measure S, $14.2 million bond for elementary school infrastructure repairs, both passed by a two-thirds margin.
