Early signs point to a promising wildflower season in Death Valley. While large areas are not yet in full bloom, conditions remain favorable in the weeks ahead.
Current Conditions

At this time, we do not have any large areas of flowers blooming; however, we do have areas that are showing preliminary signs of an above-average bloom. This reconnaissance of the park begins at the Park Entrance sign coming from Death Valley Junction and follows Highway 190 through the park to the North Highway turn off, and includes Badwater, Mud Canyon Road, and Beatty Cutoff Road.
2026 Outlook

Death Valley is poised for a better-than-average bloom, and with a little luck, it could even be better than that. We are looking at good weather for the next seven days. This could kick off the beginning of the bloom, but I think we are still at least two weeks from seeing flowers. How long they will last after they come up will depend entirely on the weather. We need mild temps and mild winds. If we get them, we could have flowers into May. Be sure to make your reservations soon and keep your fingers crossed! Until next time…
