Bishop elementary, middle, and high schools are currently in lockdown after Bishop Elementary School received a called-in threat.

From Bishop Unified School District:

“BUSD Families,

The BES, HSMS, and BUHS campuses are currently locked down out of an abundance of caution due to a phone call threat received at the BES office. School staff and law enforcement are the only ones allowed on campus at this time. Students are all safe in classrooms. Update to follow.”

ESN spoke to Sheriff Stephanie Rennie who dispelled rumors of an active shooter and confirmed the threat was only called in.

This case falls under jurisdiction of the Bishop Police Department. ESN has reached out to Police Chief Nate Derr for comment and are waiting a response.
