Bishop hosted all the High Desert League teams Thursday in a single elimination tournament to qualify for the CIF individuals in Bakersfield.
In Doubles, Bishop’s Kinlei Romero and Avery McGraw took first place with scores of 6-0 6-0 first round, second round 6-1 6-4, and the finals they also won in straight sets 6-3 6-1.
Azul Aranzubia and Lila Santana took third place. Their first sets were 6-3 6-2. They lost their second round 0-6 0-1 but qualified for the #3 spot.
Bishop’s Siena Pope and Xitlaly Solorio played off a tie break for 3rd. Siena Pope won 6-3 6-3 to take 3rd and Xitlaly will be the alternate.
The girls head off to Garces in Bakersfield on Nov. 7th. to continue competing.
Team brackets have still not been announced.
