Bishop Bronco JV Boys Basketball Remains Undefeated After Victories Against Cal City and Boron

The Bishop Bronco JV basketball team traveled to Boron Tuesday night and came home with a victory 52-26 keeping their undefeated league record intact. The Broncos were without two of their leaders, Elijah Reynolds and Emory Dondero who have been pulled up to varsity, but the team played admirably without them. They jumped out to a first quarter lead 15-3 lead by Nolan Dowers who had 6 points to go along with 4 rebounds and Will Kemp who had  5 of his 9 total points and 3 of his 5 steals. They closed the half 23-8 with a strong 2nd quarter by Weston Dondero with 4 of his 6 points and 3 of his 5 rebounds in the quarter. The 3rd quarter saw Richie Talavera score 7 of his 9 points and 2 of his 3 assists and the 4th was lead by Trace Seitz with 4 of his 6 points and 2 assists. Overall it was a great team effort. In addition to the players mentioned above, Charlie Lewis had 8 points and 3 steals, Brody Banning added 2 points and 4 steals, Derrick Cortez had 2 points and 3 rebounds, Cesar Sororio had 2 points and Brady Kalk had 2 points and 4 rebounds. Chucky Delgado and Jackson White each added 3 steals and Michael Spratt had 4 rebounds.

Next up for the Broncos is their final league game again Kern Valley in Lone Pine on Thursday.

Update from 2/3 game against CA City

The Bishop Bronco JV basketball team remained undefeated in league as they withstood some hot shooting from CA City to start the game and prevailed by a score of 53-44. CA City hit 5 three pointers in the first quarter, taking a lead into the 2nd 22-15. Bishop cut CA City’s lead to 1 going into the half with some hot shooting by Will Kemp and Elijah Reynolds. Bishop came out with a zone press in the third and took control of the game ending the quarter up by 11. The fourth was played even, with Bishop taking the victory.

Elijah Reynolds lead the scoring with 12, followed by Brady Kalk, Emory Dondero and Will Kemp with 9 each. Westin Dondero and Richie Talavera had 4 each and Trace Seitz and Chucky Delgado had 2 each.

Bishop, now 10-0 in league has 2 games left in the season. The first will be on the road in Boron next Tuesday and their final game will be in Lone Pine against Kern Valley  next Thursday.
