The Varsity Mathletes team earned second place with a fearless performance at our first home meet this year. They scored a well-earned 20 points, which landed them in second place out of 6 schools. Boron High School scored an extraordinary 21 points in first place. Behind them were our Bishop Mathletes with 20 points, followed by Rosamond with 14 points, Tehachapi with 12 points, Desert with 7 points, and Silver Valley with 6 points. It was the first of many meets, but we expect to see high scores in the future from our brilliant team.
The individual scores of our regulars this meet were just as impressive. Scoring 5 points, Brady Johnson took first place on our team. Santi Lopez, Eddy Chavez, and Blake Jahn placed second with 4 points each, and Granite Puhvel and Alexis Solorio came together with 8 points as regulars. Their teammates Kevin Rivas, Sydney Garcia, Nelson Mendiola, Roberto Reyes, Adan Perez, Allison Astorga, Scarlett Buchholz, Bram Crall, Reagan Dermody, Hudson Elia, Anahi Flores, Ulysses Gonzalez, Ginger Lowden, Trey Safarik, Wayland Schultz, Wyatt Slee, Tatum Swanson, Nikita Vantroyen, Oscar Woods, Sakura Kobayashi, Colin Noesser, and Brandon Walters also competed in this meet and did outstanding.
These scores are well deserved, given the problems they had to solve. These meets always challenge our members and we commend them for solving questions like this:
We have high hopes for our future meets, and we hope to see our champions succeed more this year. This team is led by our wonderful coach, DeeDee Buchholz who said “This is a GREAT Varsity Team. There are 29 Varsity Mathletes led by Senior Captains Sydney Garcia and Adan Perez along with Junior Captains Kevin Rivas and Santi Lopez. The captains and I are really proud of our team and we appreciate how hard everyone is working.” Good luck, Broncos!
