TOWN COUNCIL MEETING ACTION ITEMS; SEPTEMBER 2, 2026
10.1 Town Council awarded the contract for the Mammoth Yosemite Airport Multipurpose Building Phase II Project to Spiess Construction Company in the amount of $3,882,400.
10.2 – Town Council approved the Town of Mammoth Lakes Fiscal Year 2026-27 Five (5) Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
10.3 Town Council appointed Cleland Hoff to fill the current Town Council vacancy, with the term ending when the candidates elected at the November 3, 2026 election are sworn into office. View the meeting agenda or watch the meeting online.
TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES FUTURE PARK AMENITIES SURVEY
The Town is in the early stages of exploring potential opportunities for new park spaces at the Bell Shaped Parcel and an expansion of the Whitmore Recreation Area. The Town invites you to provide input on what park amenities you would like to use at the Bell Shaped Parcel and the expanded Whitmore Recreation Area. Survey closes September 30, 2026.
DON’T MOVE A MUSSEL!
Golden mussels are an invasive freshwater species not yet detected in the Eastern Sierra and keeping them out is critical. They spread primarily by hitchhiking on boats, trailers, and gear that move between lakes and rivers. Once they are here, they are impossible to remove. New ordinances in Mono and Inyo Counties require inspections before launching any trailered watercraft, including boats and jet skis, into any body of water. Trailered watercraft must stop at a Watercraft Inspection & Decontamination (WID) station and receive an Eastern Sierra mussel sticker before launching. Launching without an inspection may result in fines, misdemeanor charges, and/or boat impoundment.
KEEP WILDLIFE, WILD
This Labor Day Weekend, and throughout the upcoming fall season, remember to respect wildlife in our town. If you live in Mammoth Lakes, please lead by example, especially when it comes to bears. If you care about them, you must help keep them wild. The best way to do this is to make sure your trash receptacles are latched, secure, and bear resistant. Clean up trash and don’t let dumpsters overflow. Don’t try to stuff your trash into an already-full dumpster and please don’t throw your household waste into construction dumpsters. Additionally, remove attractants such as bird feeders and pet food from outside your home. Don’t leave food or trash in your vehicle and close your garage doors. Once bears find an easily accessible food source, they don’t forget, and they’ll come back for more. If locals do our part, we can make a big difference. The entire community will only succeed if every person chips in.
