Mono County Welcomes Fall with Color Map and Seasonal Events
BRIDGEPORT, Calif. (September 02, 2026) — As crisp mountain air returns and the Eastern Sierra landscape prepares for its spectacular annual transformation, Mono County is thrilled to announce the release of a brand-new Fall Color Map, alongside a packed calendar of exciting autumn events. With world-class scenery and festivities located just a short, scenic drive from Reno and surrounding regions, there has never been a better time to plan a fall getaway to Mono County.
“Fall is arguably the most magical time to visit the Eastern Sierra,” Jennifer Kreitz, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors (District 1). “With our new Fall Color Map and an expanding roster of events like the Bridgeport Oktoberfest, we are excited to welcome local residents and travelers to experience the beauty and community spirit of Mono County.”
New Fall Color Map: To help visitors perfectly time their leaf-peeping adventures, Mono County has partnered with the Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Mammoth Lakes Tourism to create a comprehensive new Fall Color Map. The Eastern Sierra is world-renowned for its brilliant displays of gold, orange, and crimson foliage set against dramatic alpine backdrops. This newly updated guide makes it easier than ever for photographers, hikers, and road-trippers to track the changing leaves across the region’s varying elevations and find the most breathtaking scenic drives.
Expanded Fall Events in Bridgeport: Beyond the stunning scenery, autumn in Mono County brings communities together for unforgettable local events. This season, the county seat of Bridgeport is proud to announce two major highlights for locals and visitors alike:
-
Ridge Rambler Half Marathon & New 5K (September 26, 2026): Challenge your stamina and grit during the Ridge Rambler Half Marathon in Twin Lakes near Bridgeport. The spectacular race begins at 7,100 feet and stretches downhill past alpine lakes and rolling hills, finishing in town at 6,600 feet. Excitingly, organizers have added a brand-new 5K route this year, making this race accessible to runners and walkers of all experience levels.

1st Annual Bridgeport Oktoberfest (October 10, 2026): Bridgeport will welcome a brand-new fall celebration this year! Hosted in the spacious backyard area of the newly reopened Sportsmen’s Bar & Restaurant in downtown Bridgeport, this lively outdoor festival will feature craft beer tastings, live music from regional bands, pretzel-toss competitions, and a lineup of yard games perfect for all ages.
These new Bridgeport highlights join a robust lineup of county-wide fall festivities, including the June Lake Autumn Beer Festival (Sept. 26), the Eastern Sierra ATV & UTV Jamboree (Sept. 15-19), and ghostly night tours at Bodie State Historic Park.
