MONO COUNTY, INYO COUNTY AND BLM ENTER SEASONAL FIRE RESTRICTIONS
With summer weather driving up temperatures and drying out vegetation across the Eastern Sierra, Stage 1 Seasonal Fire Restrictions were announced this week by the Bureau of Land Management, the Inyo National Forest and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. In line with these orders, the Mono County Sheriff has also issued fire restrictions for all public and private lands in Mono County. These restrictions are now in effect across all federal and public lands under these jurisdictions to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, protect vital natural resources, and ensure public and firefighter safety. Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for Inyo National Forest lands went into effect on June 22, 2026 to protect natural resources and provide for public safety during dry conditions. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YEARS FOURTH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
Fourth of July festivities in Mammoth Lakes are just around the corner and this year’s lineup has been super-sized to be worthy of America’s 250th birthday! A highlight of the day is the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July Parade, which begins at 11am and wraps up around 12:30pm. The parade begins at the intersection of Chateau Road and Old Mammoth Road and heads to Main Street, ending at the corner of Manzanita Road and Main Street. This year, the biggest change to the annual lineup is the closure of Main Street (SR 203) beginning at 9am through the end of the parade. By limiting pedestrian and vehicle interactions along Main Street during the busy pre-parade hours, organizers and public safety partners can create a safer environment for residents, visitors, participants, and staff. Additionally, the Forest Trail Road detour has been discontinued so access into and out of Mammoth Lakes between 9am-1pm will now occur via the Scenic Loop or via Meridian Blvd. prior to 10am. At 10:30am, the Footloose Freedom Mile is expecting a record number of runners on Old Mammoth Road. Other enhanced events on July 4 include the annual Lions Club breakfast now serving breakfast burritos and a new hospitality bar till 1pm. The Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at Crowley Lake has a custom designed “Sky Concert” show with 250 more fireworks than last year. Over 960 aerial shells will be propelled into the sky for a mesmerizing 17 minutes, beginning at 9:15pm. Admission to the Fourth of July Fireworks Show is once again only $30.00 per vehicle (excludes camping), and $5.00 for walk-ins (children 12 & under are FREE). The show will also simulcast live on KMMT 106.5, tune in or stream online and enjoy! Don’t miss the biggest and best fireworks show in the Eastern Sierra.
