Mammoth Lakes 11/1/26

What a Fall It’s Been in the Eastern Sierra!

This year’s autumn season has been spectacular across the Mammoth Lakes and Eastern Sierra region. We saw fiery orange canopies around Rock Creek Lake and McGee Creek Canyon, turquoise waters sparkling beneath golden aspens at Convict Lake, and “snowliage” scenes in Mammoth Lakes. Farther north, June Lake Loop, Tioga Pass and Lee Vining Canyon put on a stunning display of fall colors this year.

If you’re planning a trip this weekend, Bishop is the place to be. Colors are still peaking around Owens Valley and throughout Bishop, but not for long! Take a road trip down to our neighbors in this “Small Town with a Big Backyard” for one last fall adventure, and don’t forget to take advantage of discounted lodging in Mammoth Lakes.

Winter Mode is activated: Mammoth Mountain received 9-15″ of fresh snow over the weekend. As a result, lifts started spinning TODAY, November 4th!  Stay updated all season long by bookmarking our Snow Updates Blog for the latest conditions and storm reports. You can also sign up for our Monthly Visitor Newsletter to get the best of Mammoth Lake’s winter adventures and activities delivered straight to your inbox.

As you adventure around the region, please remember to Recreate Responsibly and Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal for future generations.

LOWER ROCK CREEK ROAD
75-100% Peaking (GO NOW!)

Lower Rock Creek is lower elevation and sheltered so color remains here. But with temperatures cooling further next week, this area will move past peak in the next week or two. This is always a great place to escape winter for a hike or bike ride though.

BISHOP AREA
75-100% Peaking (GO NOW!)

The cottonwoods in and around Bishop and the Owens Valley are a stunning yellow and orange hue.
