Spring Awakens in Bishop

Spring in Bishop brings blooming wildflowers, longer sunny days, and that perfect in-between season where the Eastern Sierra feels wide open and full of possibility. It’s a time when desert floors begin to pop with color, snow still crowns the peaks, and every direction offers something new to explore.

Spend your mornings casting a line in rushing creeks as fishing season ramps up, or lace up your boots and hit the trails to catch early wildflower blooms and sweeping valley views. Scenic drives are especially rewarding this time of year, with dramatic contrasts between green valleys and snow-covered mountains.

In town, spring is just as inviting. Wander through local shops, discover galleries and handmade goods, grab a fresh cup of coffee, and enjoy a relaxed meal at one of Bishop’s many restaurants. It’s also a great time to slow down, soak in the sunshine, and connect with the community.

Springtime brings many important events to our region – Earth Day celebrations, a “Foodie Fiesta,” the Lone Pine Trout Derby and the annual Manzanar Pilgrimige are all happening this month. May will bring the Wild West Marathon, Chili, Cars & Cervezas, Choo Choo Swap Meet, Bishop Ultras, Arts & Crafts in Bishop City Park and of course Mule Days! Check out the calendar on our website for more information about these events and more.

Wildflower Season Happening Now!

spring

Wildflowers are starting to appear around Bishop! What makes the Bishop area so special is its dramatic range in elevation. Flowers begin on the valley floor and in the lower deserts, then gradually move higher into the mountains as the season progresses.

As spring turns to summer, new blooms continue to emerge at higher elevations, with alpine areas often blooming into early July. This long season creates months of color and an ever changing landscape for visitors to enjoy.
