Spotlight On: Sage and Fire
Spotlight On: Sage & Fire
As part of our ongoing series, we are interviewing people of interest in the area who are having a positive impact on our community.
This time, we reached out to Sage & Fire Dispensary in Lone Pine.
What inspired the founding of Sage and Fire, and how did the name come about?
Sage & Fire was inspired by our son, Sage. He represents the fire that kindles our hearts, and we wanted our dispensary to embody that same spirit—bringing the most fire cannabis to the valley. As founders, Pearl and I named the dispensary in honor of Sage, and we are dedicated to providing top-quality cannabis products while creating a meaningful connection with our community.
Although we’re originally from San Diego, we grew up visiting the Eastern Sierra frequently to enjoy its world-renowned natural beauty. This region holds a special place in our hearts, and when the opportunity arose to acquire the building for our dispensary in Lone Pine, we worked hard with local legislators and the community to gain approval to open Sage & Fire and bring the best cannabis to the valley.
Can you describe the types of products you offer, from flowers to edibles and concentrates?
At Sage & Fire, we offer a wide range of cannabis products, including premium flower, edibles, concentrates, and vapes. We cater to both the everyday consumer and those looking for cannabis for social occasions, providing options that range from attainable high-quality selections to connoisseur-level products. We’ve got something for everyone, from locals to tourists visiting the region, and we take pride in showcasing that California’s best cannabis can be found right here in the Eastern Sierra.
How do you select the cannabis brands and products you carry in your dispensary?
We are very selective about the brands we carry due to our limited shelf space. We focus on bringing in companies that are passionate about their products and committed to high-quality standards. We also listen to our customers, responding to specific requests to ensure we’re offering what they want. Every product must be licensed by the state of California, and each batch is third-party tested to ensure it meets our strict safety and compliance requirements.
In balancing big brands and craft operators, we allocate a percentage of our shelf space to support smaller operators, including family-owned, veteran-owned, women-owned, and people of color-owned companies. These smaller operators often have a harder time competing with larger corporations, but they produce some of the best, most authentic cannabis. We want our customers to learn about these amazing brands and have the option to support them, knowing that their money makes a greater impact by helping sustain small businesses and their communities.
Do you collaborate with local growers or businesses? If so, how does that work?
Yes, we make it a priority to collaborate with local growers and businesses. Our general manager, Jessy Hall, grew up in Lone Pine and has cultivated great relationships in the region, which keeps us deeply connected to the local community. One partnership we’re especially proud of is with Glacier Fed Farms, the only licensed cultivator in Inyo County. Owners Jennifer and Dustan are passionate about their craft, producing incredible, pesticide-free flower grown with glacier water from their farm in the Sierra Nevada mountains. By supporting local operators like Glacier Fed Farms, we ensure our customers have access to unique, high-quality products while contributing to the local economy and community. https://www.glacierfedfarms.com/
What steps do you take to ensure a positive experience for customers visiting the dispensary?
Our number one priority is creating an exceptional experience for every customer who visits our dispensary. Fueled by a dedication to premier, licensed cannabis and unrivaled customer care, we go above and beyond to make sure our customers feel informed and satisfied with their purchases. Our staff, who are from the area, know and love cannabis as much as they love the Eastern Sierra region, and they are passionate about staying up to date with the latest industry trends. This allows them to serve as experts on anything cannabis-related, ensuring that every customer leaves with a smile, confident they’ve made the right choice by visiting Sage & Fire.
