As part of our ongoing series, we are interviewing people of interest in the area who are having a positive impact on our community. This time, we reached out to Irma West from Healings, Mind, Body & Spirit in Bishop!

Can you tell me a little bit about Healings and what you do there?

Healings has been in Bishop since 2008. We started with just massage and expanded into a Boutique & Gift Shop. It is an all women’s clothing shop that offers seasonal apparel and jewelry,  We have one of a kind gifts at times items from Guatemala,  Peru, New York and California. Including women’s accessories, as well. We also offer kickboxing classes at times, full moon ceremonies, yoga and chakra courses. We have spiritual counseling,  energy work, Reiki classes, crystal therapy, grief therapy, shamanic healings, and card readings.

What is included in the spa service?

After 30 years of doing massage, we no longer offer these services, but we do offer body treatments, waxing and organic facials

All products are organic. I treat acne, perform anti-aging treatments and do micro-current (non-invasive and safe electrotherapy applied through a series of sub-sensory electrical currents) treatments, too.

How did you get your start in this profession?

In the spa area I love working with beauty and make others feel beautiful, as well. In the retail area, I have worked in retail over 40 yrs and in the energy field, and I have been a spiritual person since I was at a very early age and have worked with many teachers , so as a healer and clairvoyant I help those that need help and it has always been a part of my daily life.

I walk in two worlds and honor them both. It is who I am as a healer, seer, and how I do the work that as been given to me since I was a young child.

Please tell me about the kickboxing and karate offered there.

I am the one who teaches the kickboxing class to women and I also teach a self-defense technique called body memory. In Karate my husband had been a teacher and now a master for over 40 years with various black belts. He teaches a Hawaiian Kenpo, Weapons and other modalities included and a Npo Jujitsu. The class is available to children and adults three times a week.

Lastly, what is the best way for someone to get in contact with you if they are interested in your services?

The Boutique and Gift Shop is open Tuesdays thru Fridays 12-5:30. Saturdays only from October-December. We have an A-frame out front with our telephone number 760-937-3391. Any time Mondays-Fridays 9am-6pm.
