Planning Tomorrow’s Parks and Recreation Starts with You!

mammoth lakes

The Town is developing a new  Parks and Recreation Master Plan that will be a guiding document for future development and redevelopment of the community’s system of parks, facilities and recreation programs and services.

The Plan shall include updated goals and policies, an analysis of the supply, demand and needs for park and recreation facilities and services within and surrounding the Town of Mammoth Lakes, including an action plan with conceptual site plans that articulate a clear vision and recreation “roadmap” for the next 10+ years.

To ensure that the master planning process is transparent, collaborative and reflects the community’s voice and vision, a PRMP Advisory Committee has been established.

The composition of the committee includes representatives from the Town Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission, Mammoth Lakes Recreation (MLR), the Planning and Economic Development Commission, the Mammoth Unified School District (MUSD), Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT) and three (3) “Community at Large” representatives.

Responsibilities of the PRMP Advisory Committee include the following:
Provide recreational related input, guidance and communicate personal, organizational or community-wide interests to the consultant and the Town’s Technical Team.

Participate in regular (quarterly) progress meetings (in-person or online) scheduled by the Town’s Technical Team or the Consultant.

As needed, support the consultant and the Town’s Technical Team in the development of the PRMP plan (i.e. community engagement tactics, public outreach, venue locations, etc.)

If you have an interest in serving on the committee to enhance recreation in Mammoth Lakes, please complete and submit the online ENGLISH [https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/FormCenter/Parks-Recreation-2/PARK-AND-RECREATION-MASTER-PLAN-COMMUNIT-81]  OR  SPANISH [https://www.townofmammothlakes.ca.gov/FormCenter/Parks-Recreation-2/PRMP-Formulario-de-solicitud-de-represen-82]  form.

The application period will close at 5pm on Friday, September 19, 2025.
