Bishop Chamber of Commerce News & Updates

From the Executive Director…

Hello Chamber Members and Friends,

Happy Monday! We hope you are enjoying a few days of sunshine and drying out a bit.

As you know, things have been a bit hectic here. Last weekend’s intense storm resulted in the postponement of the Blake Jones Trout Derby to May 13th. We were able to re-schedule the fish stocking and the band. We’ve received positive feedback from pre-registered participants and co-sponsors so we’re confident the May event will be awesome.

This coming weekend, the Flash Foxy Climbing Festival will be at the Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair & Event Center. The event organizers are going forward with the festival, but they are NOT going out to climb on rocks because they don’t want to further damage landscapes that need time to heal from the recent storms. They understand local resources are stretched thin and they don’t want to put additional pressure on any first responders. Flash Foxy will still be a great weekend filled with education, relationship building, and stewardship! Plus it’ll give local and visiting climbers something fun to do downtown!

The Bishop Chamber staff and volunteers are busy working on several upcoming projects including the Bart Hall Show in Long Beach, Trout Opener Media Reception, a spring job fair, and the IPW Show in San Antonio. The new Bishop Visitor Guide Magazine is complete and being distributed at the shows and via Certified Folder Display. Click here to check it out! Your continued membership and support allows us to keep up the important work – thank you!

There are several new opportunities for professional and personal development highlighted in this message. There are also several fun events coming up for both locals and visitors. This email highlights a few of them and there are even more online at www.bishopvisitor.com.

Note – if your business or organization is planning an event, please let us know so we can add it to the web calendar. If you have a member-to-member deal or discount, please let us know and we’ll highlight it in our next e-news.

Have a wonderful week!

Inyo Associates

Inyo Associates is an informally organized group of community leaders, agency representatives and interested citizens – everyone is welcome. The group meets monthly in different locations throughout Inyo County to share a meal and important information. It’s a great way to stay connected!

RSVP is very important to the future of Inyo Associates. The host must know how many seats to set-up and how much food to prepare. Inaccurate headcounts are not only irritating, they are costly and none of the community partners should be losing money hosting the event.
