Mono County Secures $900,000 for Critical Emergency Backup Generators in Federal Legislation

BRIDGEPORT, CA (December 1, 2025) — Mono County is thrilled to announce the successful inclusion of a $900,000 project for Emergency Backup Generators in the newly signed federal appropriations legislation, H.R. 5371—the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026. The bill was signed into law by President Trump on November 12, 2025.

“We are incredibly thankful to Senator Padilla and Senator Schiff for championing this vital request for Mono County,” stated Lynda Salcido, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors.

The project funding was designated through the Rural Community Facilities Program, marking a major step forward in protecting Mono County’s infrastructure. While the funds will not be immediately available as the program revises its grant protocols, the inclusion of the project is a definitive commitment of federal support.

Mono County staff will continue to monitor the process as the funding is prepared for disbursement through the appropriate federal agencies.
