Greetings Anglers!

The wait is over, Fishing Opener is here, and we’re excited to welcome anglers back to Mammoth Lakes for a very merry Fishmas!

Spring in the Eastern Sierra always keeps things interesting. With the season in transition, conditions can change quickly so be sure to check the latest forecasts and road updates before you go. This weekend may bring a mix of weather, including possible snow showers, so pack plenty of layers. And go all in, bring the skis too—this is prime time for those classic multi-adventure days.

For the latest fishing conditions—including what’s biting and where, check out The Troutfitter’s report.

A quick heads up for the season ahead: new ordinances are now in effect in Mono and Inyo counties to help prevent the spread of Golden Mussels. All trailered boats must be inspected prior to launching. For details, visit Eastern Sierra WID’s website.

Make the most of your trip with seasonal deals and offers designed to help you experience more for less. And as you get out there, remember to Recreate Responsibly with these sustainable fishing tips to keep Mammoth Lakes unreal for generations to come.

Share your favorite fishing moments with us @visitmammoth using #VisitMammoth.

Cheers to big catches and unforgettable days on the water.

Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT) has partnered with Clean Up The Lake (CUTL). Every dollar raised over the multi-year partnership (up to $100,000) will be matched by MLT to support ongoing stewardship. CUTL has already removed thousands of pounds of trash and fishing lines from the Mammoth Lakes region. Help us keep this program strong and consider donating.

Tangle Free Waters is a program designed to reduce and remove monofilament fishing line from Eastern Sierra waterways and keep it out of landfills by means of recycling. Fishing line gets caught around bushes, logs, and other shoreline and submerged obstacles—do your best to untangle and retrieve all the fishing line and dispose of it at a Tangle Free Waters station. Find a station map here.
