MCOE Offers Free Winter Clothing for Mono County Children and Youth

Bilingual request form now available; distribution begins in December

MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. — The Mono County Office of Education (MCOE) is accepting requests for free winter clothing for children and youth throughout Mono County. Available items include winter coats, snow pants, boots, gloves, beanies, warm socks, and other cold-weather essentials.

Clothing is available to any Mono County child or youth who needs it, while supplies last.

Meeting basic needs helps students be ready to learn. During Eastern Sierra winters, having a warm coat, boots, and other essentials can help children get to school comfortably, take part in activities, and focus on learning. The effort also helps ease a practical burden on families.

Families can submit requests in English or Spanish and specify needed items, sizes, preferred pickup arrangements, and sensory considerations. Schools, libraries, social service agencies, and community partners may also assist families with requests.

Requests are accepted on an ongoing basis. Distribution is planned to begin in December 2026. Pickup at schools or community locations and delivery assistance may be arranged based on family needs and available capacity.

MCOE thanks the Mono County community for its generous outpouring of support in previous years. With clothing already available, the focus is now on getting these essentials to children and families who need them. No donation drive is planned at this time, though requests for specific items or sizes may be shared later. Community partners are encouraged to share the clothing request link.
