What to pack? Springtime weather in the Eastern Sierra sometimes brings some surprises. Always pack layers.
Lodging – Bishop has a great selection of hotels, but only about 850 total rooms. It’s best to book early and try to travel mid-week if you can. Use this link to compare prices and amenities and Book Direct with your hotel.
Road Conditions – Many roads that were closed for the winter are beginning to open for the summer season. Caltrans reports that the Sonora Pass/Highway 108 will reopen on Thursday, May 15, at 10 am. Roads to South Lake and Lake Sabrina are now open.

Visitors who plan to enter Yosemite National Park between 6am and 2pm on Memorial Day weekend, any day between June 15 and August 15, or Labor Day weekend are likely to need a reservation. Visit the Yosemite National Park trip planning website for details, exceptions, and how to make a reservation.
