Bishop proudly hosts The Greatest Mule Show on Earth – a one-of-a-kind celebration of the animal that helped shape the American West. Mule Days brings visitors from across the country to enjoy everything from world-class mule competitions and thrilling pack scrambles to the much-loved parade, country music concerts, a sprawling arts & crafts show, and delicious local food. It’s a time when the entire town comes together to celebrate our heritage, welcome guests with open arms, and create memories that last a lifetime. What to pack? Springtime weather in the Eastern Sierra sometimes brings some surprises. Always pack layers.

Lodging – Bishop has a great selection of hotels, but only about 850 total rooms. It’s best to book early and try to travel mid-week if you can. Use this link to compare prices and amenities and Book Direct with your hotel.

Road Conditions – Many roads that were closed for the winter are beginning to open for the summer season. Caltrans reports that the Sonora Pass/Highway 108 will reopen on Thursday, May 15, at 10 am. Roads to South Lake and Lake Sabrina are now open.

Visitors who plan to enter Yosemite National Park between 6am and 2pm on Memorial Day weekend, any day between June 15 and August 15, or Labor Day weekend are likely to need a reservation.
