Mammoth Mountain Snow Report – January 5, 2023
JAN 5, 2023 – 10:30 AM
Snow Conditions: Fresh Powder
Day Temp: 25°F
Base Depth: 123–176″
Wind: Moderate-Strong
ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BLIZZARD
Here we go again! We received 11-16″ of snow overnight and are seeing blizzard conditions with heavy snowfall and moderate to strong winds this morning. Mountain operations are impacted due to extreme conditions – Main Lodge, Woolly’s Tube Park, Snowmobile Adventures and Tamarack XC Ski Center will not open today. The forecast calls for a very quick break in the weather tomorrow before more storms roll in over the weekend. With about 20 feet of snow already at Main Lodge this season, and closer to 30 feet over the top, this early-season is one we will never forget.
Be prepared for travel in blizzard conditions, always carry chains and know how to use them and use public transportation when possible. Be aware of the dangers that come with deep snow and Snow Immersion Suffocation (SIS) – ski and ride with a buddy and always keep your buddy in sight.
