Beat the Heat
As temps tickle the triple digits all over the western United States, Mammoth’s 9,000’ of elevation has been keeping things more comfortable. Highs this weekend are forecasted to be in the low 80s in town, just saying…
As part of our ongoing erosion mitigation, Velocity received some TLC this week along with a new rock garden! An expert rated trail, Velocity strikes a fine balance between tech and speed. Features like the Hillary Step, Velocity Rock Spine, and the NEW rock garden above the Midtown over/under all require proper line choice. But the first straight away, Forest Trail fall away, and the finale are all FULL SPEED. Kind of like a swirled soft serve cone, Velocity’s different shades keep the trail interesting and without a doubt it’s riding the best it has all season.
White Bark received the perfect feature in the perfect location – a new wooden wallride was added toward the bottom of the trail allowing riders to keep their speed all the way through to the end. Other trails receiving work this week are Flow, Boomerang, and Follow Me.
Construction is still going on all over the mountain so be prepared for re-routes and potential trail closures. Currently, Brake Through from mid is closed along with DC-10. Brake Through can be accessed from the top of Canyon Express (16).
Join us for a weekend of community focused trail running starting Sept 22
