On February 7, 2024, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council approved an employment agreement with Rob Patterson as the new Town Manager.

Mr. Patterson will officially begin his duties on March 1, 2024.

“I was very pleased with the Town’s recruitment process used to select Rob Patterson as our new Town Manager,” said Town Mayor Bill Sauser. “Rob’s skills and commitment to Mammoth Lakes, knowledge of the community and willingness to work closely with the Town Council and our employees, demonstrated that he was the best candidate for the position. I look forward to working with him as our next Town Manager.”

After serving as the Town Manager for 10 years, Daniel C. Holler’s last official day is February 29, 2024. The Town wishes Mr. Holler all the very best in his retirement and new life in Wyoming with his wife Claudia.

Mr. Patterson joined the Town in 2016 as the Administrative Services/Finance Director overseeing the Human Resources and Finance divisions including acting as the Town’s Tax Collector. Responsibilities included payroll/benefits administration, human resources, oversight of the revenue team, including the management of the Business Tax Certificate, Transient Occupancy Tax, and Tourism Business Improvement District programs, accounts payable/receivable, and finance, including direct oversight of the Town’s budget.

“I am grateful for Dan’s leadership over the last seven plus years. He has been gracious with his time regarding the intricacy of municipal government,” stated Mr. Patterson. “He leaves a legacy of great accomplishments in his tenure with the Town, including an outstanding group of employees. I am humbled and honored to follow in his footsteps and provide leadership for the organization, and support for the Town Council and our great community.”

Some of Mr. Patterson’s accomplishments during his tenure as the Administrative Services/Finance Director with the Town was the restructuring and reorganization of the Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH), enhancing the Town’s TOT enforcement/compliance program, coordination and liaison with the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) incident management teams and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during the declared 2022/23 snow emergency, and most recently, Mr. Patterson has been overseeing the work and recommendations of the STR (Short Term Rental) Advisory Committee.

Prior to starting with the Town and following graduation from Sacramento State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (with a concentration in accounting), Mr. Patterson worked at Meek’s Building Centers for over 11 years, and then Raley’s for 14+ years in various accounting and managerial positions. Mr. Patterson is a past president of Mono County Search and Rescue and enjoys snowmobiling, hiking, ice skating, and spending time with his family in Merced and across the country.

“I have enjoyed working with Rob over the past 7 plus years as one of the core department heads for the Town of Mammoth Lakes,” stated Town Manager Dan Holler. “Rob will bring a blend of extensive private and now public sector perspectives and experiences to manage and lead the Town. I have every confidence that he will continue to move Mammoth Lakes forward in being a great place to live, recreate, and work. I wish him all the best as he takes on the position of Town Manager leading a team of talented, dedicated, and fun Town staff.”
