Summer LEGO® Camps Are Back!

Mammoth Lakes Parks and Recreation are excited to welcome back Play-Well TEKnologies, who will be hosting two new LEGO® camps this summer – Pokemon with LEGO® (July 5-8) and Minecraft with LEGO® (August 8-12) for ages 6-11 years. Please register online with Play-Well TEKnologies. For scholarship opportunities, please contact Recreation Manager Kat Kelly at (760) 965-3697.

Register for Spring Gymnastics!

Join Coach Julie for our Spring Gymnastics Program – a 6-week beginner class on gymnastics fundamentals. We will cover basic exercises on floor, vault, balance beam, and bar. Spaces still available in the Grades 3-5 class on Wednesdays. Classes take place at the Communtiy Center from May 11 through June 15. Cost is $75/session. Adult Softball Begins June 13

Get your team together and join our Coed or Men’s Slow Pitch Softball League this summer. All abilities welcome! League play begins June 13 at Shady Rest Park. The Shady Rest DiscGolfPark is NOW OPEN and the Whitmore Pool is scheduled to open on Monday, May 16! Please click here to view the status of our parks, facilities, MUP’s and sidewalks. Community Recreation Center (CRC) Update

Work is underway on the site to build the Sprung structure. Look for the weekly #crcupdate on the Town’s Facebook page Temporary park closure: For the duration of construction for the new Community Recreation Center, the Mammoth Creek Park playground, restrooms and parking lot will be CLOSED to the public. The Town will maintain public restrooms on the eastside of Mammoth Creek Park accessible from the multi-use path.  We invite you to enjoy one of our many playgrounds at Trails End Park, Shady Rest Park and the Community Center. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work towards enhancing our community recreation amenities.

2022 Defensible Space and Community Clean-Up Event

The Town in partnership with Mammoth Disposal, Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce, and Volunteer Eastern Sierra (VES) has scheduled a Defensible Space and Community Clean-Up event on May 13 & 14. Take pride in our Town by volunteering on Saturday, May 14 to beautify our streets, parks, trails and public spaces. Drop by Footloose Sports on May 14 from 9:00am-12:00pm to collect complimentary trash bags, a community clean-up map, and recycling information along with helpful clean-up tips.

Protect your property from wildfires by creating and maintaining defensible space around your home on May 13 & 14. The defensible space zones start from the building, structures, and decks, up to 100 feet or the property line.  You can promote a healthy defensible space zone by removing ground litter and trimming up trees to 15 feet. Pick up your FREE bags beginning on Monday, May 2 from the Town of Mammoth Lakes Offices or at Footloose Sports on Saturday, May 14. Click here for additional information or to volunteer.

Adult Dance Fitness Classes

Looking to get in shape for a summer of hiking, biking, swimming, SUPing or whatever else it is you do? Join Coach Ally at the Community Center on Tuesday (5:30pm) and Thursday (6:00pm) evenings for Dance Fitness classes. Sessions include hip-hop, jazz, ballet and musical theater. At $6 a class, or $40 for a 10 class punch card, it’s a bargain! 2022 Suicide Awareness 5Kish Walk

Register now for the first-ever Suicide Awareness 5kish Walk on Sunday, May 22. Raise awareness, learn about resources, build community resiliency, and honor loved ones lost. This free event will start and finish at Mammoth Brewing Company and includes aid stations provided by Mammoth Mountain, The Warming Hut, and Stellar Brew. Live music will be provided after the walk by Pitter Patter and a raffle will be held to raise funds for Wild Iris and Shine, two local non-profits providing resources to individuals at risk for suicide. Please bring a photo, note, or memento if you would like to contribute to the community memorial wall.  Register Here!

Please Leash Your Dog!

While enjoying beautiful Shady Rest Park or the sensational views at the Sherwins Trailhead, please leash your dog and leave no trace! Trash bins are provided, along with complimentary doggie bags so please keep your dog on a leash, pick up your dogs waste AND put it in the trash bin. It is unlawful for any dog owner to allow their dog to run at large within the Town of Mammoth Lakes Municipal Boundary. All dogs shall be kept securely fastened by a chain, rope, or leash unless securely confined within private property legally controlled by the owner of the dog. We encourage responsible dog ownership while visiting these high-use areas by adhering to the Town Municipal Code below. Storytime and Reading Challenge
In addition to our weekly Facebook Live Storytimes on Wednesdays at 10:30am and in Spanish alternate Fridays at 10:30am on Mammoth Lakes Library’s Facebook page.

Makerspace and MonoBookBox Program
The library continues to offer free all-ages seasonal Makerspace Kits and Activity Zines for pick up at the front desk, along with Storytime To Go bags for young families at Mammoth Lakes Library. School age kids can still sign up for a few remaining slots in our winter MonoBookBox Program and high school age teens can participate in our Evolution of Storytelling Project  which includes free journaling boxes and zine-making kits and this season adds in-house use of iPads for digital story creation and recording equipment for oral history/podcast style storytelling.  Adults can take advantage of our Drop-In Sewing Machine Time at the 2nd floor Makerspace every Wednesday from 2:30-4:30pm
