Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal, Its a Mammoth Thing!
Mammoth Lakes Tourism, in collaboration with the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Recreation, has launched a video series Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal, Its a Mammoth Thing! The campaign aims to create a culture of protecting and preserving Mammoth Lakes through a series of 6 engaging videos, each focusing on a stewardship topic that invites everyone to take action.
The fifth video Respect Wildlife, urges viewers to be considerate of wild animals by not getting too close, obeying speed limits, and being responsible about food and trash in order to keep both us and the wildlife safe. Visit the Its a Mammoth Thing landing page and latest wildlife video.
NEW Mammoth Lakes Community Dog Park Nearing Completion
The first-ever community dog park for Mammoth Lakes, located on land owned by the Mammoth Lakes Foundation on College Parkway, is nearing completion.
As a recipient of the T-Mobile Hometown Grant program, the Town began planning for a free, pet-friendly dog park in 2021. This amenity encourages community inclusion, fosters connections, and improves public safety while promoting proper dog ownership, etiquette, pet wellness and an enhanced quality of life for both pets and people. The off-leash dog park is approximately one acre in size and includes a 5-foot perimeter fence, with a double-entry gate system and separate small and large dog areas. The dog park features 5,000 square feet of custom dog turf, 2 dog waste stations, 4 benches and access to water. Parking is available for approximately 40 vehicles, in addition to a winterized restroom with water fountains and bottle filling stations. The contractor has substantially completed work on the site; however, additional finish work will be conducted by the Town parks and road crews beginning Monday, September 23 for approximately 7-10 days. Please be aware that for the duration of this work, the dog park will remain CLOSED for safety. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we work to complete this valued recreation amenity.
