Town Council Meeting Action Items – May 7, 2025
• The Town Council provided input on the Fiscal Year 2025-26 Preliminary Budget and accepted the Town’s 2023-24 Independent Auditors Report.
• The Town Council authorized the Town Manager to execute a purchase and sale agreement with Mammoth Lakes Foundation (MLF) for the acquisition of 7.94 acres of land located at 100 College Parkway to be used for the future McCoy Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) and other future development.
McCoy Arts and Cultural Center (MACC)
• After the approved execution of the purchase and sale agreement, the Town will assume responsibility for the construction of the MACC, which is intended to be a year-round venue for performing arts events, including live theater, musical performances, films, lectures, conferences, and community activities.
• The MACC will be constructed adjacent to the existing Edison Theatre and is the result of a partnership between MLF, the Town, Cerro Coso/Kern Community College, and private donors.
• The MACC will be a single-story, approximately 7,482sf, 239-seat performing arts theatre with support spaces, and will include reconfiguration of the existing parking lot, and other site improvements.
• MLF has recently completed upgrades to the Edison Theatre that will help to complement the operations planned at the MACC.

Town and County Working to update the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)
• The LHMP focuses on identifying and mitigating hazards to help reduce impacts of a disaster on residents and/or the community. By creating this plan and keeping it updated every five years, federal, state and local agencies are more likely to be on the same page when it comes to understanding the current hazards facing our small towns. All of the agencies may then create a more unified strategy.
• The Town and County are seeking input on the LHMP. Please consider taking the LHMP survey (English) (Spanish) and providing your feedback to make our community a more prepared and safer place.
Parks and Recreation Update
• Parks and Facilities Update: The Pickleball Complex and Shady Rest DiscGolfPark are open, along with the Community Dog Park and the Whitmore Recreation Area.
• The Whitmore Pool opens on May 12 for lap swim and swim team practice. The pool will open for morning lap swim Monday to Friday from 6:30-8:30am, and afternoon lap swim on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 5:30-7:30pm.
