Town Council Meeting Action Items for February 19, 2025
Town Council adopted by resolution the 2025/26 Parks and Recreation Department Fee Schedule that includes the new annual membership program.
Town Council approved by resolution the purchase of Two TruNarc devices in partnership with Mono County Sheriff and the District Attorney’s Office.
Town Council approved the new official Town of Mammoth Lakes seal.
Town Council provided direction to staff regarding the 2025 Town Council Key Objectives.
The Town Council awarded $45,000 to supplement organized, non-profit, and self-sustaining youth sports organizations that provide enhanced programing and foster greater participation from low-income residents.
Participate and Learn about the Eastern Sierra Housing Needs Study
In a collaborative effort to address regional housing challenges, the Collective Housing Committee (CHC), comprised of Inyo County, Mono County, the City of Bishop, the Town of Mammoth Lakes, and the Eastern Sierra Council of Governments (ESCOG), is partnering with BAE, a private real estate economics consulting firm, to prepare a Housing Needs Study for the Eastern Sierra Region and to develop a Collective Regional Action Plan. The first in a series of six community workshops to gather input and share progress with stakeholders will be held via Zoom [https://monocounty.zoom.us/j/
This session will introduce the current research efforts, outline the project’s scope and schedule, and familiarize the community with upcoming survey efforts and community outreach scheduled for later this spring. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide initial feedback. Parks and Recreation Update
Registration for Spring Gymnastic sessions opens at 9am on Monday, February 24.
Skate for Tony! Join us at LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes from 6:00-7:30pm on Friday, February 28 to raise money for the Tony Colasardo Scholarship Fund. 100% of all admissions will go towards removing financial barriers for local youth participation in our recreation programs. A suggested donation of $20 for Winter Skate Members is appreciated.
Join us at LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes from 7:30-9:00pm on Wednesday, March 5 for Community Skate Night sponsored by Mammoth Lakes Tourism. Admission and skate rentals are FREE (subject to availability) with hot chocolate compliments of Mammoth Lakes Tourism. Attendees can also enter to win 2 tickets to an LA Kings game!
The 2025 Summer Camp Schedule will be released on Monday, March 10. Stay tuned for updates!
SAVE THE DATE: Summer Recreation Expo and In-Person Registration is on Monday, March 31 at the Community Recreation Center (CRC). More information to come on registration and how you can avoid the line by picking a time!
Community Coffee Next Week!
The next Community Coffee will be held at 8:30am next Thursday, February 27, 2025. Mammoth Lakes Tourism be discussing sustainability initiatives and the implementation of new Town ordinances like the single-use plastic water bottle ban with Cassidy Moyer, Sustainability Coordinator for Mammoth Disposal and Anthony Ottati, Sustainability Coordinator for the Town of Mammoth Lakes.
The Mammoth Lakes Chamber and Mammoth Lakes Tourism teams will also provide updates. Don’t forget to stick around for trivia and your chance to win a gift card!
