Happy New Year from the Town of Mammoth Lakes! 

  • On behalf of the Mammoth Lakes Town Council, our hard-working employees, and our many devoted volunteers, we wish you and your family a safe holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
  • In celebration of the New Year, Town offices will be closed on December 29, 2023 and January 1, 2024.

Town Council Meeting Items – January 3

  • Town Council will consider approving an agreement between the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Housing (MLH) providing $2.2 Million in funding for the Access Apartment Project.
  • Town Council will consider adopting an update to Chapter 8.15 of the Town of Mammoth Lakes Municipal Code to prohibit single-use plastic water bottles of 500ml or less at Town-affiliated events, including events that require a special event permit, effective January 1, 2025, and will prohibit any business from selling or distributing single-use plastic water bottles of 500ml or less within the Town of Mammoth Lakes, effective January 1, 2026. If adopted the Ordinance shall become effective and enforceable thirty (30) days from and after the date of its adoption.
  • Town Council will vote to waive the reading and adopt by title only the ordinance adopting Municipal Code Chapter 10.24 regarding vehicles on Trails (e-bikes, bikes and other related transportation devices).
  • Town Council will consider authorizing the Mayor to a sign letter of support for Whitebark’ s Grant Request to the Cal Fire Forest Health Program.

Park and Recreation News! 

  • LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes operating within the NEW Community Recreation Center (CRC) located ay 686 Old Mammoth Road has scheduled public skate sessions every day for the entire holiday season. Session times are as follows: 12-1:30pm, 2-3:30pm, 4-5:30pm, 6-7:30pm and 8-9:30pm. Visit LA Kings Ice for additional information.
  • LA Kings Development Camp: Led by LA Kings Alumnus Derek Armstrong and LA Kings Scout and Inclusion Specialist Blake Bolden, register for the January 26-28, 2024 Development Camp for both youth and adults.
  • Adult Winter Programs are NOW on sale. Register for adult indoor soccer, adult indoor volleyball and hockey!

 

Be Snowsmart This Winter!

  • Mammoth Lakes receives some of the heaviest snowfall in California. Be Snow Smart this winter by observing a few simple rules:
    • Look out for and obey all posted traffic signage – especially regarding speed limits and chain controls.
    • Slow down – speeding is a major cause of winter accidents.
    • Keep your distance from snow removal equipment and pass with extreme caution.
    • Use the FREE transit services in Town. If you aren’t comfortable driving in wintry conditions, let the professionals at ESTA do the driving for you! Click here for routes and schedules.
    • Call 800-427-ROAD for current chain control restrictions or road conditions, listen to KMMT 106.5, Sierra Wave 92.5 or KIBS 100.7 FM or look for chain control signs throughout town.

No Parking on Town Roads from November 1 – Apr. 30

  • The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is reminding citizens and visitors that from November 1 through April 30, no parking is allowed along all town streets unless otherwise noted. 
  • Vehicles found parked in violation of these ordinances are subject to receiving a parking citation and/or in some cases, vehicles may be impounded at the owner’s expense.

 

Notice Inviting Proposals for Food & Beverage Services at The Community Recreation Center 

  • The Town of Mammoth Lakes is inviting proposals from all persons or entities interested in entering into a contract with the Town of Mammoth Lakes for the purpose of providing food and beverage service at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) located at Mammoth Creek Park (686 Old Mammoth Road).
