LADWP Recreation Updates for the 4th of July

Recreation Updates 4th of July
Enjoy the New Buckley Ponds Adaptive Kayak Launch

To officially kick off the summer recreation season, Inyo County, LADWP, and Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra joined together last week to celebrate the newly installed adaptive kayak launch at Buckley Ponds.
Klondike Lake Open 7/4-7/7

Klondike Lake will be open for boating from July 4-7. Gates will open at 9 a.m. on July 4.
Area Closures

North Landing will remain closed until July 5 due to high reservoir elevation. We will reevaluate on the 5th to see if roads and parking are more accessible.
Bishop Creek Canal: Both the east and west side patrol roads on the Bishop Creek Canal north of Line Street will be closed on July 4 as well as the fields immediately east of / between Hanby Street to accommodate the fireworks display.
All access will reopen to the public on July 5.
-SAFETY REMINDERS-
Excessive Heat
A heat warning will be in effect for the Owens Valley this week. An extreme heat event means much hotter temperatures and in some areas triple digits for extended periods. Please be prepared and plan ahead, for resources visit ready.inyocounty.us and ready.mono.ca.gov.
Waterways
Adhere to all warning and closure signs – they are there for a reason! Swift-flowing water and high water levels with strong currents can pose potential safety hazards. Use caution at all times, please.
Fireworks
Fireworks are NEVER allowed on LADWP, BLM, and National Forest lands. Fireworks can only be used on private property and not in the roadway. “Safe and Sane” fireworks are the ONLY fireworks that are legal in California. Please exercise great caution and care when using fireworks. View CalFire 4th of July Fireworks Safety Guide.
