County Ordinances Now Available Online
The public now has quick and easy access to the more than 1,000 regulatory, penal, and administrative ordinances that make up the Inyo County Code.
The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office has been attempting to digitize both paper and microfiche records for more than a year. The lengthy project, with assistance from the Inyo County Information Services Department, has resulted in the availability of these records on the Inyo County website here. (You can also find them via the Publications subhead under the “Government” tab on the home page: www.inyocounty.us.)
The ordinances, dating from 1899 to 2023, are listed by the number assigned to them at the time of their approval by the Board of Supervisors and grouped in lots of 100. A searchable catalogue of all 1,303 ordinances is included so that they can also be located by topic.
The ordinances establish the rules, regulations, and standards that collectively comprise the County Code, and cover a vast range of topics: revenue and finance, purchasing and contracting, health and welfare, public peace, morals and safety, roads and parks, building and safety, and zoning, to name a few. In addition to helping the public locate and understand County regulations, the new online repository provides a look back into the early history of Inyo County and provides a record of the local laws created, amended, or repealed over the past 124 years.
The online repository will be updated as new ordinances are approved.
The entire County Code can be found at: https://library.qcode.us/lib/inyo_county_ca/pub/county_code.
