County Facilities to Close for Labor Day
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO MEET TUESDAY
Inyo County offices and facilities will be closed Monday, September 4 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Business will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 5, which will also see the Board of Supervisors return to its chambers in Independence following a two-week hiatus.
The Board is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday (note the change in time), and will recess to Closed Session until 10 a.m.
In addition to being introduced to several new employees in Open Session, the Board will hear various updates from department heads, including the latest on Emergency Medical Services in the Bishop area, recovery efforts from Tropical Storm Hilary, and regional air service. The latter presentation will feature Bishop Airport management, Mammoth Lakes Tourism, and Airplanners Consultants.
Other agenda items include reappointing members to the Mt. Whitney Cemetery District, approving a construction contract for the Lone Pine Airport taxiway resurfacing project, and approving a no-cost agreement with the California Department of Aging to provide 20 iPads to the Eastern Sierra Area Agency on Aging to help promote digital literacy among the older population and encourage virtual socialization.
The Board will also consider supporting Caltrans’ Reconnecting Communities: Highways to Boulevards grant application, which presents an opportunity to move many of the larger visions of communities on the U.S. 395 corridor from planning stages to “shovel-ready” projects.
A letter expressing concerns about the restrictive requirements of the Veterans Housing and Homelessness Prevention Program and a letter requesting the State Fish & Game Commission reinstate printed copies of fishing guide regulations will also be considered for approval.
