Ralph Alex Reeve Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 18, 1949, in Bend, Oregon, Ralph lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to those around him.
Ralph was the cherished son of Ralph Sr. and Louella Reeve. He grew up with his sisters, Judy Lindig and Cheryl Craun, and was preceeded in death by his sisters Carol Ann and Janet Kay, his parents, and his grandson Austen Desousa. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Reeve, daughter Ami and (husband) Ken Baker, daughter Jody Desousa, and favorite child, Clint Reeve.
Ralph was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Alex, Craig, Shayla, Austen, Dakota, Catarino, and Stevie, and was adored by his eleven great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire his family for generations.
A graduate of Bishop Union High School, Ralph was known for his athletic achievements and his love for cool cars. His spirit led him to serve his country with honor as a decorated Vietnam Combat Veteran in the United States Army.
Early in life, Ralph learned the meaning of hard work, with a diverse and storied career path. He began working alongside his father as a butcher and delivered meat from Los Angeles County to Mono County. His work ethic extended to the Reeve Family Ranches throughout the Owens Valley and Swall Meadows, where he worked as a ranch hand.
Ralph married Linda Kothman on January 10th 1970 of whom he had three children with. Upon returning from Vietnam, Ralph took to raising livestock and children on the Reeve Ranch in Round Valley. He also worked at Union Carbide during this time. Ralph was divorced in 1983 and moved to Southern California, in order to raise his kids. Ralph returned to Bishop in 1990 to take over the family business. He transformed Ralph Reeve Pump Service into Reeve Drilling and Ralph Reeve Pump and Well Service Inc., serving Inyo and Mono Counties with reliability and dedication for over 30 years. His hard work and leadership provided opportunities for generations of his family and local residents.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph dedicated his life to Christ and attended Grace Lutheran and Calvary Chapel of Bishop. He met Linda Majors and the two were married on October 3rd 1998, beginning a beautiful journey together. He found joy and solace in nature, spending his free time camping, fishing, hunting, and shooting with his grandkids. Ralph was also known for hosting dinner and holiday parties, bringing together family and friends with his generous spirit.
Ralph’s charismatic personality and “happy-go-lucky” attitude endeared him to many. He was a man of kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand, yet he maintained a delightful humor, often expressed through his candid words. His smile and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held on October 15, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist. Cellebration of life and food to follow at VFW from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of Ralph’s friends for their support and love, particularly to Steve Wilson, Ralph’s lifelong best friend, who was more of a brother and trusted advisor.
Ralph’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His love, laughter, and spirit will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
