Heavy Snow Load on Roofs – Critical Life-Safety Threat!

The Town of Mammoth Lakes Building Division, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit and the Mammoth Lakes Police Department are notifying all property owners to be aware of, understand and manage the signs of structural damage resulting from heavy snow.

SEVERAL STRUCTURES THROUGHOUT TOWN HAVE FAILED, CREATING A CRITICAL LIFE-SAFETY THREAT – BE AWARE!

Structural roof problems will be further compounded with the additional weight of heavy snow settling on the already burdened roof adding considerable stress on your home or business.  Continue to clear your roof or at least remove the top third or half of the snow from the structure.

IF YOU SEE BROKEN OR FRACTURED STRUCTURAL MEMBERS, SUCH AS ROOF RAFTERS AND BEAMS, OR DEFORMED ROOF OR WALL SURFACES, PLEASE REPORT THAT DAMAGE IMMEDIATELY TO THE MAMMOTH LAKES BUILDING DIVISION: (760) 937-5939 OR (760) 965-3632.
